Washington, D.C. The Japanese American Citizens League (JACL) seeks applicants for its Daniel K. Inouye Fellowship, which will be in the JACL Washington, D.C. office. This fellowship will be focused on public policy advocacy as well as healthcare programs and issues of importance to the Asian Pacific American (APA) community at large. The fellowship is named for the Honorable Daniel K. Inouye, current United States senator from Hawaii, and is funded by Eli Lilly.

Responsibilities
• Monitor key legislative initiatives pertaining to healthcare, civil rights and social justice of importance to the JACL mission
• Implement or assist with JACL-sponsored health fairs and other programming
• Assist in the planning and execution of various events sponsored by the JACL
• Interact with other APA national organizations and the local JACL chapter
• Research and study policy areas as assigned, perform other general duties as requested

Qualifications
• Minimum four-year degree from an accredited college or university
• Excellent writing, analytical, organizational and computer skills
• Ability to take direction and follow through with assignments, must work well as a member of a team and have good interpersonal skills
• Be or become a member of the JACL and be familiar with the JACL and APA issues.

Guidelines
Interested applicants should submit a resume, writing sample, and the names and contact information for two references. The term of the fellowship will be for a time period of eight (8) to ten (10) months and may begin in January 2009 or later. Stipend will range from $1,800 to $2,200 per month, depending on qualifications. Submit application as soon as possible. Open until filled.
