October 20-26, 2008 Citywide Graffiti Clean Up Lend a Hand Event
Dear Anti-Graffiti and Litter Program Volunteer,
The City of San José’s Anti -Graffiti and Litter Program is wrapping up another successful year. We would like to express our gratitude to all of our dedicated program volunteers. Many of you have contributed by either removing graffiti or by reporting it to our 24-hour Hotline. The Anti-Graffiti and Litter Program eradication staff continues to effectively remove graffiti Citywide.
This year we had the pleasure of interacting with you on several occasions such as during your visits to our office, at the yearly volunteer recognition event, at community meetings, events and/or at local fairs that we attended. Many volunteers have been a part of past Citywide Anti-Graffiti “Lend a Hand” efforts. Many volunteers have asked that we continue to include them as part of this proactive concentrated graffiti abatement effort.
The Anti-Graffiti and Litter Program staff has drafted the attached Lend a Hand flyer to encourage your participation in this Citywide graffiti abatement effort.
When?
This Citywide graffiti abatement Lend a Hand event will take place during the week of October 20 – 26, 2008. During this week, we are encouraging volunteers to participate in this concentrated graffiti abatement effort so that together, we can have a more noticeable impact on graffiti throughout the entire City.
Why:
Graffiti defaces public and private property. It contributes towards the increase of crime in your neighborhood and areas with graffiti tend to decrease in property value.
How you can help?
By helping spread the word about the Anti-Graffiti and Litter Program and its volunteer opportunities. You can also help by removing graffiti on public property and/or by adopting a block, fence or wall in your neighborhood. In addition, reporting graffiti to the 24-hour Anti-Graffiti Hotline at (408) 277-2758 can help us wipe graffiti.
How we can help?
If you are in need of additional cleaning supplies, please call the Anti-Graffiti and Litter Program office and ask to speak with either Paul J. Gonzalez, Art Ramirez, Ricardo Barajas and/or Servando Perez at (408) 277-3208. Office hours are from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday with extended hours on Saturday October 25-26, 2008 from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
