POSITION: Research Associate
SALARY: (1.0 FTE) $34,000-$40,000 DOE
START DATE: ASAP
DEADLINE TO FILE: September 21, 2008
ORGANIZATIONAL DESCRIPTION:
The Association of Asian Pacific Community Health Organizations (AAPCHO) is a nonpartisan, national non-profit association representing community health organizations primarily serving Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians, and Other Pacific Islanders in the United States, particularly the medically underserved. AAPCHO’s mission is to promote advocacy, collaboration, and leadership that improve the health status and access of Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians and Pacific Islanders within the United States, its territories and freely associated states, primarily through our member community health clinics. Our vision is to establish a standard of excellence for community-based health care that is equitable, affordable, accessible and culturally and linguistically appropriate to the people we serve. Our twenty member community health organizations, predominantly community health centers, are at the forefront in providing community responsive, financially affordable, and culturally and linguistically appropriate primary health care services.
Position / Role:
The Research Associate, under the supervision of the Director of Research, will be principally responsible for project coordination, data management, and analysis for the Pacific Health Technology Innovation Project (PHTIP) funded by the Department of Health and Human Services, Health Resources and Services Administration. The purpose of the PHTIP is to establish a data repository shared by network partners to track clinical performance measures toward a goal to demonstrate increased efficiency, revenue and productivity as well as improvement in patient health status, and reductions in health disparities. Duties of this position include but are not limited to project coordination, development and implementation of research protocols, management and analysis of data from member sites including coordination of data, data collection and entry, database cleaning, and reporting. The Research Associate will also provide research and administrative support to other AAPCHO research projects, including the Enabling Services Accountability Project (ESAP), and the Medically Underserved Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Other Pacific Islander (MUAC) project. The purpose of ESAP is to build on AAPCHO’s enabling services data collection model to improve Electronic Medical Record (EMR) data collection on enabling services and to describe their impact on health care access and outcomes. The goal of the MUAC project is to identify AAPI communities considered medically underserved across the nation using national public health datasets. The Research Associate will also work closely with AAPCHO’s Program staff to strengthen AAPCHO’s research capacity to better serve member community health centers and their efforts for improving AAPI health care access and outcomes. Some travel may be required.
